The lab runs instruments that are fully automated HPLCs with diode array, UV, fluorescence and RI detectors, CE with diode array UV detector and GC with FID.

Chiral separations:

Cyclodextrins are extensively used in separations due to their unique property to form inclusion compounds with other smaller hydrophobic molecules. In particular, the shape and size selectivity of cyclodextrins provides an important parameter for separations. Currently, chiral separations seem to be one of the most significant areas of application

in the use of cyclodextrins and their derivatives. (The micro scaling of existing separation technologies is one of the new trends. These techniques include various capillary techniques such as CE, micro bore-LC, micro dialysis, etc).   Cyclodextrin

For example an electrophoresis chip operating in the Mars organic detector III will help to answer the question if there was life on Mars during the next space missions planned by NASA. The analysis of the composition of chiral amino acids will be carried out with the help of a γCD running buffer.

Analysis of Cyclodextrin derivatives

The characterisation of the isomer distribution and purity of cyclodextrin (CD) derivatives, their quality control and examination of their stability during storage are still a real problem. Using even the most sophisticated analytical methods the separation and identification of all components is far beyond the possibility.

CDScreen stationary phases were invented on the basis of theoretical considerations and molecular modelling. These special columns solve the problems derived from HPLC column diversity.

cyclolab   CycloLab offers:
• analysis of parent CDs and their degradation products;
• characterisation of component distribution of statistically substituted CD derivatives;
• determination of residual parent CDs, and degradation products in the CD derivatives;
• determination of CDs and CD derivatives in drug formulations and other complexated matrices.
